Finger foods are nugget size pieces of food that are given at the same time as the meal, to encourage the pincer grip.
Once your baby can hold things in her fingers, try giving her the following finger foods – under supervision
- peeled pear, banana
- seedless grapes, cut in half
- cubes of cheese
- cooked pasta
- whole pieces of steamed vegetables that can be squished between your (mom’s) fingers easily.
Baby-led weaning has many advantages including helping your baby gain confidence by allowing her to choose what she wants to eat.
